ELMIRA, NY — A traffic stop led to the arrest of a woman wanted on a parole violation warrant from Pennsylvania.
Ashley E. Spencer, 37, of Elmira, was arrested Jan. 23 as a fugitive from justice, according to the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office.
A sheriff’s deputy stopped Spencer for a vehicle and traffic law violation at about 6:09 p.m.
During the encounter, the deputy found Spencer in possession of drug paraphernalia and methamphetamine, authorities said.
Spencer provided a false name when the deputy attempted to identify her, according to the sheriff’s office.
She was arrested and brought to the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office for processing.
Spencer was identified and found to have an outstanding arrest warrant from Pennsylvania.
She was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree and criminal impersonation in the second degree, both class A misdemeanors.
Spencer was arraigned in Elmira City Court and remanded to the Chemung County Jail.
She is awaiting extradition to Pennsylvania.
