Man charged with child endangerment in Plattsburgh

PLATTSBURGH, NY — New York State Police charged a man with endangering the welfare of a child and assault in the third degree on Jan. 23, 2026.

Russell K. Duprey, 34, of Keeseville, was arrested following an investigation into a reported child abuse incident.

Troopers responded to Route 3 in the town of Plattsburgh at approximately 11:43 p.m. on Jan. 21, 2026.

The investigation determined that Duprey was babysitting a five-month-old child and aggressively slapped the child multiple times, causing visible bruising.

The child was medically evaluated at Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital and did not sustain serious injuries.

Duprey was transported to State Police Plattsburgh for processing.

He was arraigned in the Town of Plattsburgh Court and released on his own recognizance.
