SOUTHPORT, NY — A man was arrested following a disturbance investigation in Chemung County.
Christopher A. Decker, 43, of Elmira, was taken into custody on Jan. 24, 2026, after troopers responded to a residence on Universal Avenue.
State police responded to the location at approximately 2:57 p.m. for a reported disturbance.
Upon arrival, troopers made contact with an adult resident who reported that Decker was creating a disturbance inside the home and was in possession of a stun gun.
The complainant stated Decker repeatedly activated and waved the device near them, causing fear for personal safety.
During the investigation, troopers located Decker inside the residence and secured a conducted electrical weapon as evidence.
Decker was taken into custody without incident.
He was charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, a felony, and menacing in the second degree, a misdemeanor.
Decker was processed at State Police Wellsburg and arraigned in Southport Town Court.
He was released on his own recognizance and ordered to return to court on Feb. 12, 2026.
