GALLOWAY TOWNSHIP, NJ — A fire broke out in a classroom at Arthur Rann Elementary School early Monday morning.
Officers from the Galloway Police Department and several volunteer fire departments were dispatched to the school at 515 S. 8th Ave. just after midnight.
A resident on Longfellow Court called in the fire.
Officers observed smoke and flames coming from the building upon arrival.
The fire was determined to be in classroom 8.
Fire services quickly extinguished the blaze.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation but does not appear suspicious in nature.
Classroom 8 was the only room that sustained fire damage, though several neighboring classrooms sustained minor damage as well.
Weather conditions at the time included cold temperatures and freezing rain, with ice and snow-covered roadways.
