WATERBURY, VT — A 61-year-old woman died Friday after her vehicle crossed the center line and collided head-on with another vehicle on Waterbury Stowe Road.
Paula Breining, of Waitsfield, was pronounced dead at the scene.
State police from the Berlin Barracks responded to the two-vehicle crash at 12:01 a.m. Friday.
Preliminary investigation revealed that Breining was traveling south on Waterbury Stowe Road in a 2009 Honda CR-V when her vehicle crossed the center line and collided with a northbound 2020 Hyundai Tucson.
The Hyundai was operated by Rohtash Kumar, 41, of Montpelier.
Kumar and his passenger, Sita Devi, 43, of Montpelier, were transported to Central Vermont Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.
Both vehicles sustained major front-end damage.
Road conditions were snowy at the time of the crash, though weather was clear.
Both operators and the passenger were wearing seat belts.
Waterbury Fire and EMS assisted at the scene.
