Tractor trailer jackknifes on Interstate 89 in Williamstown

WILLIAMSTOWN, VT — A tractor trailer jackknifed and slid into a ditch on Interstate 89 southbound Thursday morning during snowy conditions.

The crash occurred around mile marker 41.2 when the vehicle lost control on snow-covered roads.

The operator, Raphael Ligonde, 57, of Barre, was wearing a seat belt and reported no injuries.

The 2020 Freightliner Cascadia jackknifed and slid off the left side of the roadway into a ditch.

Troopers from the Berlin Barracks responded to the scene.

The left lane of Interstate 89 southbound was blocked, but the right lane remained open to traffic.

Stockwells Garage removed the tractor trailer from the roadway.

Normal traffic flow resumed after the roadway was cleared of hazards.

The vehicle sustained no damage.
