LINCOLN, RI — Rhode Island State Police arrested 14 people on Jan. 22 in a series of operations targeting fraud, violent fugitives and drug trafficking.
The Gaming Enforcement Unit arrested Roberto Olivares, 40, of Central Falls, for obtaining property by false pretenses/personation over $10,000.
Olivares was processed at the Lincoln Barracks and transported to Third District Court for arraignment.
Members of the Financial Crimes Unit arrested Leng Chy, 38, of Cranston, for obtaining property by false pretenses/personation over $10,000, fraudulently obtaining public assistance over $500 and giving false document to agent, employee or public official.
Chy was processed at State Police Headquarters, arraigned by a justice of the peace and released with a future Third District Court date.
The Financial Crimes Unit also arrested Melissa Matias, 55, of East Providence, for obtaining property by false pretenses/personation over $10,000 and access to computer for fraudulent purposes.
Matias was processed at State Police Headquarters, arraigned by a justice of the peace and released with a future Third District Court date.
Aaron Sam, 40, of Central Falls, was arrested by the Financial Crimes Unit for obtaining property by false pretenses/personation over $10,000 and access to computer for fraudulent purposes.
Sam was processed at State Police Headquarters, arraigned by a justice of the peace and released with a future Third District Court date.
Daniel Tuirok, 59, of Warwick, was arrested by the Financial Crimes Unit for obtaining property by false pretenses/personation over $10,000 and access to computer for fraudulent purposes.
Tuirok was processed at State Police Headquarters, arraigned by a justice of the peace and released with a future Third District Court date.
John Depasquale, 45, of Cranston, was arrested by the Financial Crimes Unit for obtaining property by false pretenses/personation over $1,500 and under $5,000, fraudulently obtaining public assistance over $500 and giving false document to agent, employee or public official.
Depasquale was processed at State Police Headquarters, arraigned by a justice of the peace and released with a future Third District Court date.
Members of the Rhode Island Violent Fugitive Task Force arrested Lucy Carr, 24, of Providence, on an affidavit and arrest warrant out of the Providence Police Department for aggravated assault.
Carr was taken into custody without incident and turned over to members of the Providence Police Department on scene.
Members of the Rhode Island State Police HIDTA Task Force, assisted by members of the RISP Detective Bureau, the DEA Providence District Office and the Pawtucket, Providence and Central Falls police departments, arrested Ebrima Jatta, 29, of Pawtucket, for possession with the intent to deliver one ounce to one kilogram of a Schedule II controlled substance – MDMA, possession with the intent to deliver a Schedule II controlled substance – MDMA, possession with the intent to deliver a Schedule II controlled substance – cocaine, possession with the intent to deliver marijuana – 1-5 kilograms, controlled substance conspiracy, possession of a firearm while committing a controlled substance violation, possession of a firearm by certain persons prohibited, large-capacity feeding devices prohibited and an affidavit and arrest warrant from the Pawtucket Police Department for assault with the intent to commit robbery, armed robbery, breaking and entering – occupied dwelling, possession of a stolen motor vehicle and conspiracy.
Jatta was processed at the Lincoln Barracks, special arraigned by a justice of the peace and turned over to officials at the ACI Intake Center pending his morning arraignment in Sixth Division District Court.
Hassan Jatta, 29, of Pawtucket, was arrested by members of the Rhode Island State Police HIDTA Task Force, assisted by members of the RISP Detective Bureau, the DEA Providence District Office and the Pawtucket, Providence and Central Falls police departments, for possession with the intent to deliver one ounce to one kilogram of a Schedule II controlled substance – MDMA, possession with the intent to deliver a Schedule II controlled substance – MDMA, possession with the intent to deliver a Schedule II controlled substance – cocaine, possession with the intent to deliver marijuana – 1-5 kilograms and controlled substance conspiracy.
