CLIFTON PARK, NY — State Police arrested a Waterford man on multiple weapons charges and a child exploitation charge following an investigation by the Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce.
Douglas J. McCann, 48, of Waterford, was arrested on Jan. 7, 2026, and charged with 13 counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, a class D felony; six counts of criminal possession of a firearm, a class E felony; and two counts of unlawful possession of certain ammunition feeding devices, a violation.
The investigation led by the Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce resulted in the execution of a search warrant of McCann’s residence and vehicle on Jan. 7, 2026.
During the execution of the warrant, electronics, numerous illegally possessed firearms and high-capacity magazines were located and seized.
McCann surrendered himself to State Police in Clifton Park later that day, where he was arrested and processed on the weapon possession charges.
He was arraigned at Waterford Town Court, where he was remanded to the Saratoga County Correctional Facility in lieu of $20,000 cash, $40,000 bond or a $200,000 partially secured bond.
During the continued investigation, analysis of the seized electronics located images consistent with child sexual exploitation.
On Jan. 21, 2026, McCann again surrendered himself to State Police in Clifton Park, where he was arrested and processed on an additional charge of possessing a sexual performance by a child less than 16 years of age, a class E felony.
McCann was arraigned at Waterford Town Court, where he was released on his own recognizance and scheduled to appear on Feb. 12 at 6 p.m.
