WEST SPRINGFIELD, MA — Two men were arrested following an armed robbery at a credit union on Jan. 20, 2026.
The West Springfield Police Department received a 911 call at approximately 10:24 a.m. reporting an armed robbery in progress at the Holyoke Credit Union located at 85 Elm Street.
Officers confirmed that a male suspect had entered the branch brandishing a firearm.
The suspect demanded access to the vault and fled the scene with an undetermined amount of cash.
No injuries were reported to bank employees or customers during the incident.
Police determined that the suspect initially fled on foot before entering a grey Nissan Sentra with Georgia registration that was parked nearby.
The West Springfield Police Department initiated a coordinated effort with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Massachusetts State Police.
The vehicle was located and stopped several hours later.
The two occupants were taken into custody without incident.
Marco Sostre, of Brockton, was charged with armed robbery while masked (subsequent offense), assault by means of a dangerous weapon (three counts) and threat to commit a crime to wit murder (three counts).
Jose Garcia, of Holyoke, was charged with armed robbery while masked, assault by means of a dangerous weapon (three counts) and threat to commit a crime to wit murder (three counts).
