Police seek help identifying theft suspect in Newark

NEWARK, NJ — Police are asking for the public’s help identifying a man suspected of stealing $500 in coins from a fast-food restaurant.

An employee at Royal Chicken & Biscuit, located in the 100 block of Market Street, left a box of quarters unattended on a counter on Jan. 11, 2026.

At approximately 1:50 p.m., the suspect was captured on surveillance video taking the box and leaving the restaurant.

Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda Sr. urges anyone with information on the suspect’s identity to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477).
