Man arrested on retail theft charge in Chambersburg

CHAMBERSBURG, PA — A man was arrested Wednesday on a felony retail theft charge stemming from an incident at a store in November.

James Samule McCrea was taken into custody by the Chambersburg Police Department on Jan. 21.

Police said McCrea entered the Rural King at 1005 Wayne Ave. on Nov. 26, 2025, and removed an angle grinder valued at $249 from its packaging.

McCrea then placed the item under his shirt and left the store without paying for the merchandise, according to police.

An arrest warrant was issued Jan. 5 by the issuing authority.
