Man arrested on DUI charge in West Warwick

WEST WARWICK, RI — A Cranston man was arrested on drunken driving charges early Wednesday morning following a traffic stop.

Bartholomew Duarte, 54, of Cranston, was arrested at 1:43 a.m. on Washington Street.

He was charged with driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor and/or drugs, first offense, and refusal to submit to a chemical test, first offense.

Duarte was transported to the State Police Hope Valley Barracks where he was processed and arraigned by a justice of the peace.

He was released with a notice to appear in Third Division District Court.

In a separate incident Wednesday, troopers arrested a woman on an outstanding warrant during a traffic stop in Coventry.

Elizabeth Barros, 41, of Ashaway, was taken into custody at 7:14 a.m. on Nooseneck Hill Road.

She was wanted on a Third Division District Court bench warrant for failure to appear for arraignment on a charge of driving with a suspended, revoked or cancelled license, fourth and subsequent offense.

The original charge stemmed from an incident investigated by the State Police Hope Valley Barracks.

Barros was processed at the Hope Valley Barracks and later transported to Third Division District Court for arraignment.
