Man arrested on drug, weapons charges in Holyoke

HOLYOKE, MA — Holyoke police arrested a man on drug and weapons charges following an early morning traffic stop Friday.

At approximately 2 a.m., Officer Nathan Cote was patrolling near Cabot Street and Main Street when he observed an unregistered vehicle with revoked insurance and attached license plates.

Officer Cote conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Cabot Street and Bigelow Street as Officers Samuel Rodriguez, Samantha Cayer and Sergeant Matthew Goulding arrived to assist.

The driver was identified as Michael Jenks, 56, of Agawam.

Jenks did not follow any of the officers’ commands and was detained.

Officers observed suspected crack-cocaine in the vehicle.

During a search of the vehicle, officers recovered brass knuckles and additional crack-cocaine.

Jenks was placed under arrest and the vehicle was towed.

An adult female passenger was released.

Jenks is charged with possession of a Class B drug, carrying a dangerous weapon, number plate violation to conceal ID, uninsured motor vehicle and unregistered motor vehicle.
