Two-vehicle crash on Bristol Road in Monkton

MONKTON, VT — Vermont State Police are investigating a two-vehicle crash that sent multiple people to the hospital Friday evening.

Troopers from the New Haven Barracks were notified of the crash with injuries on Bristol Road at approximately 5:35 p.m.

Police identified the operator of the first vehicle as Chao Xu, 35, of McLean, Virginia.

The operator of the second vehicle was identified as Christopher Glaski, 53, of Bennington.

Investigation revealed that a 2025 GMC Yukon XL was traveling northbound on Bristol Road when the operator lost control of the vehicle due to the road conditions.

The vehicle began to slide out of control, crossing the yellow line and into the southbound travel lane.

A 2017 Toyota Tacoma was traveling southbound on Bristol Road at the time.

The GMC struck the front end of the Toyota, resulting in severe contact damage to the front end of both vehicles.

Both vehicles were suspected to be traveling at moderate speeds, and both vehicles’ airbags deployed as a result of the crash.

The operator and all passengers in the GMC sustained suspected minor injuries.

The operator and one passenger from the Toyota sustained moderate injuries, and two passengers from the Toyota sustained serious injuries.

All injured parties were transported to UVM Medical Center.

The GMC had three passengers: Fei Teng, 34, of McLean, Virginia; Rujun Dai, 32, of Fairfax, Virginia; and Yuzheng, 30, of Falls Church, Virginia.

The Toyota had three juvenile passengers from Bennington.

All occupants in both vehicles were wearing seat belts.

Road conditions at the time were snow and slush, with clear weather.

Vermont State Police were assisted by Middlebury, Bristol and Monkton fire and EMS services.
