CORTLAND, NY — A 37-year-old man faces felony weapon possession charges following a traffic stop in the city.
Nathan N. Craig, of Cortland, was stopped at approximately 8:12 p.m. on Port Watson Street for an equipment violation, according to the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office.
Officers determined Craig was operating the vehicle without a license.
Craig was found to be in possession of an illegal weapon and multiple controlled substances, police said.
He was arrested at 8:16 p.m. and transported to the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office for processing.
Craig was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a felony, and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor.
He also was cited for unlicensed operator and obstructed plate, both infractions.
Craig was arraigned through the Centralized Arraignment Process at 10 a.m. and released on his own recognizance.
He is scheduled to appear in City of Cortland Court on February 18 at 9 a.m.
