CORTLAND, NY — A 54-year-old man was arrested on a drug possession charge after officers took him into custody on a bench warrant.
Carl R. Sherman, of Cortland, was arrested at approximately 7:21 p.m. on Jan. 15 following an investigation on Tompkins Street in the city of Cortland.
Officers from the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office located Sherman, who had a bench warrant for his arrest out of the Town of Cortlandville Court.
Sherman was taken into custody and found to be in possession of a controlled substance, according to the sheriff’s office.
He was transported to the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office for processing.
Sherman was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a misdemeanor.
He was arraigned through the Centralized Arraignment Process for the bench warrant and issued an appearance ticket for the new charge.
Sherman is scheduled to appear in the City of Cortland Court on Jan. 26 at 9 a.m. for arraignment.
