RANDOLPH, VT — Vermont State Police are investigating a head-on collision that occurred on VT Route 12 near Meadow Lane on Jan. 16, 2026.
The crash was reported at approximately 5:13 a.m. under clear weather conditions on dry roads.
Police say a 2010 Subaru Forester traveling south on VT Route 12 departed from its lane of travel and struck a northbound 2017 Mitsubishi Mirage head-on.
The operator of the Subaru initially left the scene and was later identified as Erica Gokey, 46, of Roxbury.
Gokey was located at Gifford Medical Center on Jan. 17, 2026, where she was issued a criminal citation to appear in Orange County Superior Court – Criminal Division on March 25, 2026, at 8:30 a.m. to answer to a charge of leaving the scene of an accident.
Gokey was also issued Vermont Civil Violation Complaints for driving on roadways laned for traffic and operating without liability insurance.
The operator of the Mitsubishi, Andrew White, 46, of Royalton, was transported to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center with serious injuries.
Both vehicles were totaled in the crash.
Neither operator was wearing a seat belt, according to police.
