Man arrested on DUI charge in East Montpelier

EAST MONTPELIER, VT — Vermont State Police arrested a New Hampshire man on a DUI charge following a single-vehicle crash Wednesday evening.

Matthew Loignon, 33, of Manchester, New Hampshire, was taken into custody at approximately 5:30 p.m. at the intersection of Vermont Route 100 and Factory Road.

Troopers from the Berlin Barracks responded to the scene after receiving a report of the crash.

An investigation revealed Loignon was operating his 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan while impaired, police said.

Loignon was transported to the Berlin Barracks for processing.

He was later released with a criminal citation to appear in Vermont Superior Court, Washington Unit, Criminal Division on Feb. 5 at 8:30 a.m.

No injuries were reported, and the vehicle sustained minimal damage.
