WORCESTER, MA — A Worcester man was arrested early Jan. 16, 2026, following a lengthy investigation into child sexual assault.
Axel Carrero, 58, of Worcester, was taken into custody without incident by Worcester Police Special Crimes Unit detectives.
The arrest was made in coordination with the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Service and Natick Police Department.
Carrero was transported to the Worcester Police Department following his arrest.
The investigation was conducted by Worcester Police Special Crimes detectives and members of the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office Child Advocacy Center.
Carrero was arraigned in Worcester District Court on two counts of rape of a child, aggravated by ten year age difference, and four counts of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14.
