SEYMOUR, CT — A Danbury man died following a head-on collision at the intersection of Route 34 and Maiden Lane on Wednesday afternoon.
Wade Meeker, 51, of Danbury, was operating a 2010 Nissan Rogue when it collided with a 2015 Dodge Charger at 3:43 p.m. on Jan. 15.
Responding officers found Meeker unresponsive with no pulse and immediately began CPR.
After a prolonged resuscitation attempt by Seymour ambulance EMTs and Valley Emergency Medical Services paramedics, Meeker was pronounced dead at the scene.
The operator of the Dodge Charger, an 18-year-old woman, was conscious and alert with non-life-threatening injuries.
She was transported to a hospital by Seymour Ambulance.
The Monroe Police Department had reported to Seymour police at 3:27 p.m. that the Nissan Rogue was operating erratically on Route 34 in Monroe.
Seymour officers were en route to check for the vehicle when the crash was reported.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
The Connecticut State Police CARS Unit is assisting the Seymour Police Department with the investigation.
Route 34 was reopened at 8:25 p.m.
