BEACON, NY — Police are investigating after a woman was found unconscious and seriously assaulted near the intersection of Tioronda Avenue and Wolcott Avenue on Jan. 14.
The Beacon Police Department received a call from Dutchess County 911 at approximately 9:20 a.m. to assist fire and EMS personnel who had responded to a report of an unconscious female who may have been the victim of a crime.
Upon arrival, officers determined there was reason to believe the woman had been seriously assaulted.
Due to the proximity to Sargent School, the Beacon City School District was notified and advised to place the school on lockout until the area could be searched.
Police searched the area around the school and did not locate anyone, and the school district was advised the suspect was not in the immediate area.
The victim is in stable physical condition.
Police are working with the victim to determine key details of the crime and are not releasing information that has not been fully confirmed.
No suspect has been identified and no one is in custody.
