Man rescued from Memorial Bridge in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, MA — Police officers rescued a man threatening to jump from the Memorial Bridge early Wednesday morning.

Officers responded to the bridge at approximately 4 a.m. for a report of an adult male stating he was going to jump.

When officers arrived, they located the man on the ledge of the bridge.

Sgt. Ivan Rosas built a rapport with the individual, who after several minutes climbed back over the ledge and onto the bridge.

Officers grabbed hold of the man, who was transported to Baystate unharmed.
