DICKINSON, NY — A former Broome-Tioga BOCES employee is facing additional felony charges after another juvenile victim was identified during an ongoing investigation into inappropriate conduct with students.
Evan J. Thorson, 51, of Endicott, was charged with rape in the third degree and criminal sexual act in the third degree, both class E felonies, on Tuesday.
Thorson was previously charged earlier this month with child endangerment and official misconduct, both class A misdemeanors, after Broome County Sheriff’s Office investigators followed up on a referral from the New York State Child Abuse Hotline regarding his conduct as a member of the Broome-Tioga BOCES faculty.
Thorson is no longer employed by Broome-Tioga BOCES.
Following the initial investigation and charges, detectives continued pursuing leads, conducting additional interviews, and gathering evidence and witness reports.
During the ongoing investigation, investigators identified an additional juvenile who was involved in an inappropriate relationship with Thorson in 2024.
Thorson was remanded to the Broome County Correctional Facility.
