Two arrested in joint federal operation in Haverhill

HAVERHILL, MA — Two men were arrested Thursday following a joint operation between the Haverhill Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives on Main Street.

Jason Ortiz, 35, of Haverhill, was taken into custody on a federal warrant for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.

Ortiz also faces additional charges including trafficking cocaine, conspiracy to violate drug laws, and possession of a Class C controlled substance.

Jeremy Gagalis, 43, of Haverhill, was also arrested during the operation and charged with trafficking cocaine, conspiracy to violate drug laws, and possession of a Class C controlled substance.

Both men were taken into custody without incident.
