Shooting investigated on I-190 in Niagara Falls

NIAGARA FALLS, NY — State police are investigating a shooting on Interstate 190 early Sunday morning that left a motorist injured.

Troopers from Troop T, SP Buffalo were dispatched to Niagara Falls Memorial Hospital in the town of Lewiston at 12:46 a.m. for a gunshot wound victim.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a 32-year-old man from Niagara Falls was traveling northbound on I-190 between exits 14 and 15 when a dark-colored vehicle pulled alongside his vehicle.

Someone in the dark-colored vehicle fired rounds, striking the victim, according to police.

The victim continued driving to the nearest hospital while a passenger called 911.

The victim was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Portions of I-190 may be shut down throughout Sunday due to the investigation.
