TOWN OF WALLKILL, NY — A correction officer was arrested early Tuesday morning following a domestic dispute in which a rifle was discharged.
Town of Wallkill Police Officers responded to a report of a domestic dispute at Imperial Park Drive at approximately 2:34 a.m. Jan. 13.
Upon arrival, officers discovered that during the dispute, one of the involved parties discharged one round from a rifle.
There were no reported injuries resulting from the discharge.
A subsequent search of the premises led to the recovery of several firearms and a spent shell casing.
Christopher Mendez, 34, of Town of Wallkill, was arrested and charged with reckless endangerment first degree.
Mendez is employed as a New York State correction officer.
He was arraigned and released on his own recognizance until his next scheduled court appearance on Feb. 10 at 10 a.m. before Judge Patrick Owen in the Town of Wallkill Court.
