NEW BERLIN, NY — A 42-year-old man was arrested following a domestic incident investigation on Jan. 9, 2026.
The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office responded to a physical domestic dispute in the Town of New Berlin.
Upon arrival, deputies determined the suspect had left the location prior to patrol arrival.
Deputies located the victim and transported them to a secure location at the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office to obtain a detailed statement.
As a result of the investigation, deputies later located and arrested Adam Lee Church, 42, of New Berlin.
Church was transported to the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office where he was processed on charges.
Church was arraigned in Centralized Arraignment and remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility on $10,000 cash bail.
A temporary Type A Order of Protection was issued.
Church is charged with unlawful imprisonment in the first degree, rape in the first degree, criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation, and harassment in the second degree.
Church is scheduled to appear in the Town of New Berlin Court at a later date.
