NEW HARTFORD, NY — Three people were injured in an early morning collision on State Route 8 on Sunday.
New Hartford Police Officers responded to the crash at approximately 6:30 a.m.
Upon arrival, police encountered icy conditions which are believed to have been a contributing factor to the collision.
Police determined that a 2004 Honda operated by Pamela Fargo of West Winfield lost control rounding a curve after encountering icy conditions on the roadway.
After losing control, the vehicle struck a guiderail and became disabled in the roadway.
Moments later, a 2004 Ford pickup truck operated by Daniel Szatko of Utica came around the same curve and collided with Fargo’s vehicle.
A female passenger in Szatko’s vehicle sustained facial injuries and was transported to Wynn Hospital by Edwards Ambulance for treatment.
Fargo and Szatko were also transported to Wynn Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
Fargo was ticketed for speed not reasonable for conditions.
Police closed a portion of the roadway while crews worked to remove the damaged vehicles.
