WORCESTER, NY — A 25-year-old man has been arrested on felony charges following a stabbing during a domestic incident on Jan. 11.
Christopher R. Roettger, of Worcester, faces charges of assault in the first degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree.
The Otsego County Sheriff’s Office said Roettger fled the scene before first responders arrived.
Responding deputies found a victim suffering from multiple stab wounds inside the residence.
The victim received medical care from Otsego County EMS and was transported to Bassett Hospital for further treatment.
Investigators made contact with Roettger, who returned to the scene to turn himself in and was taken into custody without incident.
Investigators obtained a search warrant for the residence and Roettger’s vehicle, where additional evidence was secured.
After consultation with the Otsego County District Attorney’s Office, bail was recommended at $100,000 cash, $100,000 credit card or $1,000,000 surety bond.
Roettger was processed and lodged in the Otsego County Correctional Facility to await centralized arraignment.
An order of protection was requested on behalf of the victim.
The New York State Police Forensic Investigation Unit assisted in the investigation.
Roettger is scheduled to appear in Worcester Town Court.
