COLCHESTER, NY — A 50-year-old man was arrested on felony charges after allegedly falsely identifying himself as a police officer during a traffic stop.
Lamark Logan, of Ellenville, was charged with criminal impersonation in the first degree, a class E felony, following the incident Friday night on County Highway 7.
Sheriff Craig S. DuMond announced the arrest Saturday.
Deputies conducting patrol observed a vehicle cross over solid double yellow lines and initiated a traffic stop, according to the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office.
Logan identified himself as a police officer with the Ellenville Police Department, authorities said.
An investigation revealed Logan was not currently employed as a police officer with that department, according to the sheriff’s office.
Logan was additionally charged with failure to keep right, non-transparent side wings and obstructed plate, all violations of the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law.
He was released on an appearance ticket and uniform traffic tickets.
Logan is scheduled to appear in Colchester Town Court at a later date.
