CAMBRIDGE, MA — A Roxbury man faces multiple charges after allegedly pointing a firearm at a police officer during a struggle in Central Square on Monday.

Brandon Gregory, 40, of Roxbury was arrested on charges of unlawful possession of a firearm and suspected crack cocaine possession.

Cambridge Police officers responded to a Central Square business at approximately 9:30 a.m. on a report that several people were in the basement smoking marijuana and refusing to leave.

Officers located two individuals in the basement, later identified as Miriam Piquant, 34, of Mattapan and Gregory.

Piquant had an active warrant out of Boston and was placed under arrest without incident.

Gregory provided officers with multiple false names and was unable to provide an explanation as to why he was in the building, prompting officers to detain him.

During the detention, Gregory actively resisted and attempted to flee.

During the struggle, Gregory drew a firearm with an extended magazine that was briefly pointed at a Cambridge Police officer.

Once officers gained control of Gregory, he was placed under arrest.

Officers discovered Gregory was also in possession of a bag containing a white, rock-like substance believed to be crack cocaine.

Gregory does not possess a License to Carry or Firearms Identification Card, making it illegal for him to possess the firearm and ammunition.

Gregory was found to have multiple active warrants for his arrest from courts in Boston, Cambridge, Dedham, and Ontario County, New York.
