Man arrested on DUI charge in Saint Johnsbury

SAINT JOHNSBURY, VT — A 37-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence following a single-vehicle crash early Saturday morning.

Troopers from the Saint Johnsbury Barracks were notified of a crash on Depot Hill Road and Model A Drive at approximately 1:26 a.m.

Upon arrival, troopers identified the operator as Zachary Mayhew of Saint Johnsbury.

While speaking to Mayhew, troopers observed multiple indicators of impairment.

After further investigation, Mayhew was placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI.

Mayhew was driving a 2026 GMC Sierra, which sustained substantial damage in the crash.

No injuries were reported.

The weather was foggy and road conditions were wet at the time of the crash.

Mayhew was issued a criminal citation to appear in Caledonia County Superior Court, Criminal Division on Jan. 26 at 8:30 a.m. for the charge of DUI refusal and negligent operation.
