BOURNE, MA — Police discovered a 75-year-old Bourne man dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound in a wooded area Saturday afternoon.
Bourne Police were dispatched to Beach Plum Lane at approximately 3:19 p.m. Jan. 10 for a report of a suicidal man who had left a residence on foot in an unknown direction.
Bourne Police and Massachusetts State Police, including their Airwing, conducted an extensive search of the area.
The man was located deceased at approximately 4:20 p.m. in a nearby wooded area.
The incident is under investigation by Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to the Cape & Islands District Attorney’s Office.
The Bourne Fire Department, Massachusetts State Police and Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the search and investigation.
