Two-vehicle crash shuts down Interstate 88 in Sidney

SIDNEY, NY — New York State Police at Sidney responded to a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 88 in the town of Sidney on Jan. 9, 2026, at approximately 4:30 p.m.

Both a tractor trailer and a pick-up truck were traveling west on Interstate 88 when they made contact.

The pick-up truck continued off the roadway.

The tractor trailer exited the roadway and turned on its side.

The operator of the pick-up truck, a 77-year-old male, sustained injuries and was transported to UHS Wilson Medical Center and is in stable condition.

The operator of the tractor trailer, a 56-year-old male, was transported to A.O Fox Hospital to be checked out.

Members of the New York State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit and the Bureau of Criminal Investigation responded to the scene to assist with the investigation.

Interstate 88 west was shut down to assist with the removal of the tractor trailer and is shut down until removal is complete.

Motorists were rerouted off exit 10.

Troopers were assisted by the New York State Department of Transportation with the closure.
