IRASBURG, VT — Vermont State Police responded to a two-vehicle crash involving a utility pole on U.S. Route 5 on Oct. 21 at approximately 6:58 a.m.
Upon arrival, police identified the operator of vehicle No. 1 as Tristian Landry, 27, of Newport City.
The operator of vehicle No. 2 was later identified at North Country Hospital as Jeffrey Como, 39, of Barton.
Investigation revealed vehicle No. 1 was traveling north on U.S. Route 5 near Campbell Road when it went off the roadway to the right and struck a utility pole.
Vehicle No. 2 was traveling south on U.S. Route 5 and was unable to stop before crashing into the downed utility pole and power lines.
Vehicle No. 2 rolled into the southbound ditch.
A third vehicle, an unoccupied 2008 Toyota Tundra parked at a nearby residence, was struck by vehicle No. 1 and sustained minor front-end damage.
Como received treatment at North Country Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
Landry reported no injuries and was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
Como was wearing a seat belt.
Road conditions were wet with ice on the shoulder at the time of the crash.
Orleans Fire, Orleans EMS, Vermont Electric Cooperative, Wrights Towing and M&A Auto assisted at the scene.
