Man arrested on sex abuse charge in Orange County

MIDDLETOWN, NY — A Port Jervis man has been arrested on charges of sexually abusing a child, New York State Police announced Wednesday.

Robert Worden, 51, of Port Jervis, was charged with sexual abuse in the first degree, a class D felony, and endangering the welfare of a child, a class A misdemeanor.

The State Police Child Abuse Unit, working with Orange County Child Protective Services, received allegations in June that Worden engaged in sexual conduct with a child under the age of 11.

Worden was arrested following an investigation and arraigned in Middletown Court, Central Arraignment Part.

He was remanded to the Orange County Jail with bail set at $50,000 cash, $100,000 secured bond or $200,000 partially secured bond.

Worden is scheduled to appear in Town of Wallkill Court on Jan. 13 at 9 a.m.
