AURELIUS, NY — The Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man in connection with a theft of marine batteries from Bass Pro Shops.
Brian S. Cuatt Jr., 34, of Auburn, was arrested Dec. 16 on a warrant charging him with fourth-degree grand larceny, according to Sheriff Brian Schenck.
Deputies responded to Bass Pro Shops at 5:46 p.m. Dec. 16 for a reported larceny complaint.
Two males entered the store and went to the marine section, where they located three lithium batteries, according to the report.
The males, one of whom was identified as Cuatt, removed security devices from the batteries, placed them in a cart and left the store without paying, deputies said.
The total value of the stolen batteries was $1,429.97.
New York State Police located Cuatt in Auburn on an unrelated matter.
Deputies took Cuatt into custody and turned him over to the Cayuga County jail for centralized arraignment.
Cuatt was committed to the custody of the Cayuga County jail and returned to the Town of Aurelius Court on Dec. 19 at noon.
