BROOKLINE, MA — A 14-year-old boy was seriously injured Thursday morning when his moped collided with a car at Harvard Street near Coolidge Corner.
Brookline police responded to the crash at 525 Harvard St at approximately 7:29 a.m. on Jan. 8, 2026.
A doctor was on scene when officers arrived and reported one person was bleeding heavily from the head.
First responders provided medical aid and closed Harvard Street in the area of the crash.
The preliminary investigation indicates the teen was operating a Flywing moped on Harvard Street toward Coolidge Corner when he ran a red light.
A vehicle traveling from Verndale Street was making a left turn onto Harvard Street when the moped struck the driver’s side.
The teen was not wearing a helmet and sustained a severe head laceration.
He was transported to Children’s Hospital.
Traffic investigators are continuing to investigate the crash.
