SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — A Hartford man was arrested on a warrant stemming from an alleged attempt to cash a fraudulent check at a local bank.

Anthony J. Duff, 38, of Hartford, was taken into custody Wednesday at 9:54 p.m. by South Windsor police.

Police said Duff’s charge stems from a June incident in which he allegedly attempted to cash a fraudulent check at Webster Bank on Ellington Road in the amount of $2,000.

Duff was initially taken into custody by the Old Saybrook Police Department and transferred to South Windsor police custody.

He was charged with criminal attempt at larceny in the fourth degree.

Duff was processed and released on a promise to appear.

He is scheduled to appear in Manchester Superior Court on Jan. 21 at 9 a.m.
