MOUNT MORRIS, NY — A Dansville man faces burglary and larceny charges following his arrest during an alleged break-in at a village residence.
Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a burglary in progress at approximately 1:30 a.m. on Jan. 6, 2026, according to Livingston County Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty.
Deputies found an individual inside the house who was not an occupant and had no permission to be there.
Martin Coniglio, 40, of Dansville, allegedly entered the residence and was stealing various household goods when deputies arrived.
Coniglio was also found to be in possession of a controlled substance upon his arrest, according to the sheriff’s office.
He was charged with felony second-degree burglary, misdemeanor petit larceny and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Coniglio was processed at the Livingston County Jail and later arraigned before Town of York Justice Porter at the Livingston County Centralized Arraignment Part.
He was released on his own recognizance as the offenses do not qualify for bail under the New York State Bail Reform Act.
The Livingston County Public Defender’s Office represented Coniglio at the arraignment, while the Livingston County District Attorney’s Office appeared for the prosecution.
The Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division handled the investigation with assistance from the Criminal Investigations Division and the Forensic Identification Unit.
