NEW HARTFORD, NY — A Utica woman was arrested after police determined she falsely reported an armed robbery.
Jennifer Lincoln, 46, of Utica, was charged with falsely reporting an incident in the third degree and making a punishable false written statement, both misdemeanors.
New Hartford police responded to a reported armed robbery at approximately 11 a.m. on Burrstone Road near French Road.
A female victim reported that various items of personal property were stolen and a firearm was displayed during the theft.
Police officers, including the New Hartford Police Department K9 Unit, searched the French Road, Burrstone Road, Chenango Road, New Hartford Street corridor and the Champlain Avenue area for a suspect described as a middle-aged Black male wearing a black coat and blue scarf.
The search did not locate any suspects.
At the conclusion of the investigation, police determined the alleged robbery did not occur.
Lincoln was processed at the New Hartford Police Department and released on appearance tickets to answer the charges in Town of New Hartford Court at a later date.
