Two arrested on drug charges in Hartland

HARTLAND, VT — Two men were arrested following the execution of a search warrant that yielded approximately 4 ounces of crack cocaine.

Calvin Bernard Alexander Jr., 43, of Montpelier, and Mikel Cooper, 66, of Hartland, were taken into custody on Jan. 6 at 44 Mace Hill.

Sheriff Ryan Palmer and Deputy Watrous initially responded to the residence to locate a wanted subject.

During the investigation, probable cause was developed to arrest Alexander for false information to law enforcement and Cooper for false information to law enforcement and impeding an officer.

Alexander had a felony warrant for his arrest for aggravated assault, unlawful restraint and criminal threatening.

Probable cause was developed to seize the residence and apply for a search warrant, which was granted.

Members of the Windsor County Sheriff’s Department and Vermont State Police Narcotics Investigation Unit executed the search warrant.

Approximately 4 ounces of crack cocaine was found in the residence and approximately 1 gram was found on Alexander.

Alexander was charged with selling or dispensing cocaine and possession of cocaine.

Alexander was held without bail and lodged at Southern State Correctional Facility in Springfield.

He was scheduled to be arraigned on Jan. 7 at 1 p.m.

Cooper was arrested, processed at the Hartford Police Department and issued a citation to appear in court at a later date before being released.
