EAST WINDSOR, CT — A 69-year-old man died after becoming trapped under a tractor-trailer while performing maintenance on the vehicle.
East Windsor police responded to 297 North Road at approximately 6:45 p.m. on Jan. 6, 2026, for a report of an unresponsive man lodged under a tractor-trailer car carrier.
Officers found the man trapped under the right side of the cab portion of the vehicle between the dual wheels.
Members of the Broad Brook Fire Department, Warehouse Point Fire Department and Enfield Fire Department responded to assist with the extrication.
The man was pronounced dead by East Windsor EMS after being removed from under the truck.
Police identified the victim as William Hastings of East Windsor.
Initial findings suggest Hastings was performing maintenance underneath the truck cab when the vehicle rolled backward, trapping him beneath it.
OSHA responded to the scene to investigate.
Police said there is no indication of criminal activity or foul play.
The investigation remains active.
