MOUNT MORRIS, NY — A Mount Morris man is facing multiple felony charges following a robbery at a business earlier this month.
Thomas Albanese, 44, of Mount Morris, was arrested Monday and charged with felony robbery in the first degree, felony criminal use of a firearm in the first degree, felony burglary in the second degree, felony tampering with physical evidence, menacing in the second degree, evading arrest by concealment of identity, petit larceny and violations of the NYS Vehicle and Traffic Law.
Sheriff’s deputies responded to a business on Chapel Street in the Village of Mount Morris at approximately 8 p.m. on Jan. 3 for a report of a robbery that had just occurred.
It was reported that the suspect had fled the business on foot.
The investigation alleges that Albanese entered the business, approached the counter and demanded cash from the cash register while brandishing a firearm.
Sheriff’s Investigator Ross Gerace arrested Albanese on Monday.
Albanese was transported to the Livingston County Jail for arrest processing and pre-arraignment detention.
He was later arraigned at the Livingston County Centralized Arraignment Part at the Livingston County Jail before Town of York Justice Porter.
The District Attorney’s Office recommended that Albanese be held on $50,000 cash bail or $150,000 bond.
The judge remanded Albanese to the custody of the sheriff in lieu of $40,000 cash bail or $100,000 bond.
The Livingston County Public Defender’s Office represented Albanese at the arraignment.
