MORAVIA, NY — A 19-year-old man was arrested on an arson charge after allegedly burning his ex-girlfriend’s purse and sending her a video of the act.
Kyle A. Beardsley, of Moravia, was arrested at 8:47 p.m. on Jan. 3 and charged with fifth-degree arson, a class A misdemeanor, according to Cayuga County Sheriff Brian Schenck.
Deputies were dispatched to the city of Auburn at approximately 6:53 p.m. on Jan. 3 for a domestic incident that occurred in the town of Moravia.
The victim reported that Beardsley, her ex-boyfriend, had sent her a video of him burning her purse.
Following an investigation, deputies arrested Beardsley in the town of Moravia, where he had burned the property.
Beardsley was turned over to centralized arraignment, where an order of protection was issued and he was released on his own recognizance.
He is scheduled to appear in Moravia Town Court on Jan. 15 at 6:00 p.m.
