Man arrested after jumping from window in Jamestown

JAMESTOWN, NY — A 23-year-old man jumped from a second-story window in an attempt to evade police officers who were responding to a residence on the city’s south side around midnight on Jan. 6, 2026.

Darius J. Thomas of Jamestown was quickly taken into custody after the jump, according to the Jamestown Police Department.

Officers from the Third Platoon were dispatched to the residence after receiving reports that Thomas had returned to the property.

Earlier that day, officers had taken a complaint from a victim alleging that Thomas had committed multiple offenses including third-degree robbery, fourth-degree grand larceny and criminal obstruction of breathing.

Thomas was transported to the Jamestown City Jail where he is awaiting arraignment.

Further investigation revealed that Thomas will additionally be charged with third-degree criminal mischief.
