Suspicious package investigated in Norwalk

NORWALK, CT — Norwalk police investigated a suspicious package outside a building on Westport Avenue on Tuesday morning.

Officers were dispatched to 370 Westport Avenue at 9:21 a.m. following a report of a suspicious package located outside the building.

The caller reported seeing a bright green package with red wires protruding from it.

Patrol officers secured the area and established a perimeter upon arrival.

The Stamford Police Department Bomb Squad was notified and responded to assist.

The investigation revealed the item was a battery pack and did not pose a threat.

A Norwalk Police Department Explosive Detection Dog and handler conducted a precautionary sweep of the surrounding area, and no additional suspicious items were located.

The Norwalk Police Detective Bureau is continuing to investigate the incident.
