Man charged with cocaine possession in Corinth

CORINTH, NY — A traffic stop for an inadequate exhaust led to drug charges against a local man.

The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office stopped a vehicle at 10:43 p.m. on Dec. 30 on River Street in the village of Corinth.

Christopher R. Barney, 36, of Corinth, was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 5th degree, a class D felony.

He is also charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the 3rd degree, an unclassified misdemeanor, and inadequate exhaust, an infraction.

Barney is accused of knowingly and unlawfully possessing 500 milligrams or more of cocaine and of operating a motor vehicle while his license was suspended.

He was released on appearance tickets at the direction of the Honorable Lane Schermerhorn of the Corinth Town Court pending proceedings in that court.
