SOUTH HADLEY, MA — A man wanted on a warrant for failure to register as a sex offender was arrested on Granby Road on Jan. 2, 2026.
Officers Kapinos and Chonmany took the man into custody at approximately 3:30 p.m. after a local medical treatment facility reported that one of their patients about to be discharged had an active warrant.
The warrant was issued by Chicopee District Court.
In other recent incidents, a South Hadley man was arrested at approximately 5 a.m. on Jan. 1, 2026, for violation of an abuse prevention order after officers responded to a residence for a reported restraining order violation.
Officers Santiago and Hart were told by the victim that she and her ex-boyfriend had a verbal confrontation and that he was not following the court-ordered distance he is supposed to be away from her.
A Holyoke woman was arrested at approximately 1:02 a.m. on Jan. 1, 2026, after officers responded to the area of E. Carew Street for a report of a car sliding into a parked car.
Officers Santiago and Podmore made observations indicating the woman was operating her vehicle under the influence of alcohol.
The woman was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of liquor, second offense, and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.
The owner of the vehicle that was struck later reported that the woman who hit his vehicle was his ex-girlfriend and that she had shown up to a Holyoke bar to tell him she did it on purpose.
Video footage from a local business showed the woman drive into the victim’s car and motorcycles, then leave and come back a short time later.
The woman will be summoned to court on three counts of malicious damage to a motor vehicle, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and obstruction of justice.
On Dec. 30, at approximately 5 a.m., a woman ran into the police station with her two young children to report she was the victim of a domestic assault and battery.
She stated her boyfriend, who is armed with a gun, pushed his way into her residence prior to the assault and that she believed he was still there.
Officers found the boyfriend was gone and that he had stolen the victim’s car.
A warrant was issued against a Springfield man for assault and battery on a household member, breaking and entering in the nighttime for felony, threat to commit a crime and larceny of a motor vehicle.
Later that day, the victim returned to the police station to report a concern that someone has been or may be in her apartment.
Officers Whelihan, Helems and Hart located a masked male attempting to hide in a closet.
The man was armed with a loaded 9mm pistol, knives and other ammunition.
The man, from West Springfield, stated he was there to get items for the boyfriend.
He was charged with breaking and entering in the daytime for felony, possession of a firearm while in the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm without a license and possession of ammunition without a license.
