PLYMOUTH, CT — Police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred on Mount Tobe Road near its intersection with Watchtower Road on Jan. 4.
A female victim reported the incident at approximately 3:57 p.m. when she walked into the Plymouth Police Department, about an hour after the robbery occurred.
The victim told police she had struck a tree limb in the roadway while driving home and pulled over to inspect her vehicle for damage.
As she walked toward the front of her vehicle, an unknown male suspect grabbed her and held a knife to her throat while searching her pockets, according to police.
The suspect stole approximately $1,800 in cash before the victim broke free and fled the area.
The victim drove directly to the Thomaston Police Department to seek assistance, which caused the delay in reporting.
She sustained minor injuries and was evaluated and treated by emergency medical services.
Police described the suspect as a tall, heavyset Black male, approximately 200 pounds, wearing dark clothing, gloves and a ski mask.
The victim did not observe any nearby vehicles and believes the suspect fled on foot.
Police conducted an immediate neighborhood canvas but obtained no additional information.
Officers have increased patrols in the area as a precautionary measure.
